Lynchburg Police Foundation 2024 Scholarship Awards
The Lynchburg Police Foundation is pleased to announce it has awarded six educational scholarships of $1,000 each to six students who have a family member employed by the Lynchburg Police Department. The awards, totaling $6,000, are the second to be distributed under the We Care Program, announced last year to support Lynchburg Police Officers and Professional Staff on a personal level.
On May 15th, $1,000 scholarships were presented to six students. These students' family members are part of our Lynchburg Police Department family and were chosen based on several criteria, including an essay written by each student.
The students will be attending college this fall, or continuing their studies, in Creative Writing, Cybersecurity, Educational Studies, Performing Arts, Nursing, and Engineering at Hollins University, Liberty University, Ferrum College, Bridgewater College, Lynchburg General School of Nursing, and Marymount University.
Their family members work in various departments within the Lynchburg Police Department, including Field Operations, Criminal Investigations, Equipment and Supply, Property and Evidence, and the Personnel and Recruiting Unit.
The Lynchburg Police Foundation wishes each student the very best in college and life!
The scholarships are made possible through generous donations to the Foundation. Plans are in place to further grow the scholarship program in the coming years.
