LPF Student Scholarships
April/May 2026
Sponsored by M4K Lynchburg
Children and grandchildren of active Lynchburg Police Department officers, Emergency Communications and Professional Staff are awarded scholarships towards their respective college/university/community college/trade school tuition.
Students apply for the scholarship and an LPF Committee selects and awards the scholarships.

May 10 - National Police Week Begins
Begins May 10, 2026
National Police Week is celebrated on the week May 15 falls in, under President John F. Kennedy’s decree to honor the men and women who risk their lives every day in the line of duty. The week is also a time for police officers to honor their fallen colleagues, make sure those surviving them are supported, as well as to remember their commitment to keeping people safe. Annual Golf Tournament
May 8, 2026
Golfers and sponsors enjoy an afternoon of golfing to raise funds for the Helping Hands initiative of LPF's We Care Program. The tournament will be held at Ivy Hill Golf Course and includes lunch, 18 holes of golf, prizes and a raffle. Shotgun start is 12:30 p.m. Check the LPF website for more details.

May 14 - Annual Awards Ceremony

The LPD will hold its Annual Awards Ceremony at the Legacy Wealth Management Auditorium and Lobby to recognize those officers, professional staff and Emergency Communications employees for their outstanding work protecting the citizens of Lynchburg in 2025. This event is funded by the Lynchburg Police Foundation.
In addition to L3Harris Technologies' sponsorship, we are still looking for additional sponsors to offset the cost of this event so that LPD employees and their families are able to attend at no cost. Please note that this ceremony is closed to the public.

LPF Hosts LPD Retiree Social
July 30, 2026
The Lynchburg Police Foundation annually hosts a retiree social, an event held to recognize LPD retirees and remember those no longer with us.
This year's event is scheduled for July 30, 2026, at the Lynchburg Police Department Community Room and is held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. (PLEASE NOTE THAT THE EVENT IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.)
Retirees and their guests are treated to a reception and includes brief presentations from LPF President Eugene Wingfield and Chief of Police Ken Edwards.

Annual Donor and Sponsor Appreciation Event
September 2, 2026
One of LPF's signature events is its annual Donor and Sponsor Recognition Event, September 2, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.. Join us for a barbecue dinner, updates from the LPF and LPD, and law enforcement demonstrations including LPD canines.
