Groundbreaking Ceremony

On September 30, the Lynchburg Police Department held a groundbreaking ceremony at its future headquarters on Odd Fellows Road. The event was attended by active and retired local law enforcement officers and members of City Council and Administration, Lynchburg Police Foundation, the community and the media. Remarks were given by Police Chief Ryan Zuidema, City Manager Wynter Benda and City Mayor Maryjane Dolan. Ceremonial shovels were put in the ground symbolizing the beginning of a project expected to take 18 months to completion. The Lynchburg Police Foundation was a strong advocate for the new police facility with City Council and City Administration during the planning and budgeting process.
