Officer of the Month
The Foundation is happy to be able to provide a cash award on behalf of the citizens of the City of Lynchburg to the Officer of the Month: Officer Glerum .
“Officer Glerum is being recognized for his proactivity, dedication, and excellent interview skills during an arson investigation.
In December 2022, Officer Glerum responded to assist Lynchburg Fire Department’s Fire Marshals for multiple incidents. Officer Glerum canvased the area to locate the suspect and observed security footage that evening providing identifiable images of the suspect.
The next day, Officer Glerum was on proactive patrol in the same area of the arsons, and observed a person matching the suspect description from the security footage.
Officer Glerum detained the suspect and transported them to the Lynchburg Police Department where the Fire Marshals responded. The Fire Marshals requested that Officer Glerum assist with the interview because he had built a rapport with the suspect. Officer Glerum assisted with the interview and was able to obtain a full confession from the suspect.
Officer Glerum is commended for his dedication, job knowledge, interview skills, and observation.”
The Foundation thanks Officer Glerum for professional dedication in assisting the Fire Marshals in locating and detaining a suspected arsonist.
