Detective Knabb retires following 20 years of service

Det. Knabb began his career with the Virginia Beach Police Department in 2006, serving in Patrol and SWAT before joining the Lynchburg Police Department in 2014. In Lynchburg, he spent three years in Patrol, and moved to the Special Investigations Division, serving on the ATF Task Force.

For nearly a decade, he worked behind the scenes to help dismantle drug rings and gun trafficking organizations. He took countless weapons and illegal drugs off our streets, including seizing items most would never expect to see in our community.

Much of that work was never seen or celebrated, but it mattered.

In addition to his investigative work, Detective Knabb served as a firearms instructor and earned a Life Saving Medal. His career has been defined by a rare combination of tactical expertise and quiet dedication.

Congratulations on your retirement, Detective Knabb! Thank you for 20 years of service.
