Narcan Used to Treat Officer

The Lynchburg Police Foundation and the Lynchburg Health Department help equip our officers with lifesaving Narcan medication that can revive someone experiencing a drug overdose.

We are sharing a recent event that allowed an LPD officer to treat a fellow officer exposed to a substance and revive him using Narcan.

On June 13, 2023, an LPD Officer was potentially exposed to an unknown substance while inspecting a patrol vehicle that had previously been used to transport an individual. The officer’s speech became slurred and he was discovered lying on the ground and extremely disoriented.

Lieutenant Bryan Williams administered one dose of Narcan to the officer but noted no changes in his behavior. Lieutenant Williams administered a second dose of Narcan which appeared to improve the officer’s condition. Lynchburg Fire Department transported the officer to Lynchburg General Hospital for further treatment.
