Professional Staff of the Quarter - Second Quarter

The Foundation is happy to be able to provide a cash award on behalf of the citizens of the City of Lynchburg to the Professional Staff of the Quarter: Tony Davis.

Tony Davis is responsible for the integrity and maintenance of the LPD’s information technology network. As a security analyst, Tony stays up to date on threats that could compromise the sensitive information within LPD’s digital footprint and disrupt daily operations. In addition to his regular duties, Tony managed the department’s transition to new handheld radios.

This transition began in the summer of 2023 and required Tony to develop a new radio programming profile, including a new channel layout, configuration settings, and other necessary adjustments. He also prepared the devices for LPD’s forthcoming encrypted communications.

In March 2024, Tony began assigning the L3Harris XL200 radios to personnel, and within weeks, all staff had their new radios. Tony dedicated significant effort to ensure all radios were properly configured and has continued to tweak settings to fine-tune their efficiency.

Tony is a vital asset in keeping our information technology infrastructure safe and secure, and he demonstrated commendable focus in transitioning nearly 200 new radios to their users as seamlessly as possible. Thank you, Tony, for your hard work and dedication to the LPD!
