Officer of the Month - December 2024
The Foundation is happy to be able to provide a cash award on behalf of the citizens of the City of Lynchburg to the Officer of the Month December 2024: Officer Ray Shelton
“Strong community relationships and sharp investigative work led Officer Ray Shelton to a major narcotics case. His efforts resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine and other narcotics, along with the execution of outstanding federal warrants in coordination with federal law enforcement.
This case started with a tip from a local business owner—one of many who trust Officer Shelton. Using security footage and surveillance, he identified suspects, collaborated with the Special Investigations Division, and ultimately secured a search warrant that led to a safe and successful operation. Officer Shelton’s dedication to community policing made this investigation possible and opened the door to further casework.
For his commitment to keeping drugs off our streets and keeping our city safe, Officer Shelton is recognized as Officer of the Month for December 2024!
