“Congratulations to Lieutenant Greg Coleman on his retirement!
Joining LPD in December 1996, Greg spent most of his career in patrol, with assignments in the Street Crimes Unit and Crime Prevention. He dedicated 16 years to the Crisis Negotiations Team, including five years as commander, and served as a Field Training Officer and Neighborhood Watch Coordinator.
He also served as Staff Officer to the Deputy Chief in both the Field Operations Bureau and the Investigations/Administrative Bureau, helping support department leadership. His commitment to the community included youth outreach through the Boys & Girls Club’s Badges for the Baseball program. He was also recognized with the American Red Cross Emergency Responder Award for his service.
Greg, thank you for nearly 30 years of looking out for Lynchburg, supporting your fellow officers, and making a difference in the lives of others.
Congratulations! You’ve earned it!”
