A New Look for a New Chapter!
The Lynchburg Police Department is proud to unveil its new badge — a symbol of the ongoing mission to partner with and protect the community.
This isn’t just a new design, it’s a piece of history and a promise for the future.
At its center are two powerful Lynchburg landmarks:
The Old City Courthouse — a lasting symbol of justice and where many LPD officers once took their oath to serve.
Monument Terrace — a sacred space where those who made the ultimate sacrifice (both Veterans and Police Officers) are remembered, including Officer William Halsey Gouldman, the first in our department to fall in the line of duty.
For more than 220 years, the Lynchburg Police Department has stood for dedication, integrity, and service. This symbol is another piece in that story. As the department moves into its new headquarters, this new badge honors the past while representing our continued commitment to the citizens of Lynchburg.
The Lynchburg Police Department is proud of what it stands for — and hopes the community is, too.
