Mark P. Elliott
Mark Elliott has more than 40 years of executive/senior level management and technical experience. Most recently, he retired as Senior Director Safety and Security for BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) where he oversaw safety and security across the international energy technology and services company. Mr. Elliott developed and directed safety and security resources, communications, assessments and improvements. His activities in promoting and assisting affirmative progress in nuclear safety culture targeted improvements in organizational reliability that produced increased margins of safety, productivity and profitability.
From 2010-2013, he served as the Director, Quality, Safety and Safeguards (QSS) for Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. (NFS), a subsidiary of BWXT. In this role, Mr. Elliott provided leadership to support the company’s goals of restarting the recently acquired facility from a safety-related extended shutdown and to position the company at the forefront of the industry in regulatory and QSS performance. He was a key member of an executive leadership team that transformed NFS from a shutdown condition into an organization with a healthy and improving safety culture, top-scoring reviews from the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and breaking all-time site records for productivity and profitability.
Prior to NFS, Mr. Elliott served as Senior Program Manager, Business Development for BWXT’s Nuclear Operations Group (NOG) (2005-2009). In this role he was responsible for developing and overseeing strategy for pursuing and securing new and additional business to support NOG’s growth and strategic goals. Mr. Elliott spent considerable time leading various activities in support of BWXT’s acquisition of NFS, including on-site due diligence and post-acquisition on-site transition.
Mr. Elliott held other positions of increasing responsibility with BWXT.
Prior to joining BWXT, Mr. Elliott served several roles for the U.S. NRC in Region.
Mr. Elliott holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Tech and a graduate certificate from The Executive Program at the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia.
