Bert Dodson
Bert Dodson, Jr. is President and Chief Executive Officer of Dodson Bros. Exterminating Co., Inc., where he began his career in 1976 as a District Manager in Richmond, Virginia. In 1979, Mr. Dodson was promoted to Reginal Manager and five years later was named Vice President of the company, relocating to Lynchburg, Virginia. Four years later he was appointed CEO.
Mr. Dodson was elected to the Lynchburg City Council in May 1998 and was re-elected four years later, serving as Vice Mayor from 2002-2004. In 2006, he was elected for a third term and served as Vice Mayor from 2006-2010.
In addition to currently serving as a board member of the Lynchburg Police Foundation Board and the Virginia Commonwealth Transportation Board, Lynchburg District, Mr. Dodson serves on the Virginia FREE Board of Directors. Notably, among numerous organizations, he served as Chair of the Lynchburg Regional Airport Commission from 2010-2018, the 2005 Commonwealth of Virginia Commission on Transportation in Urbanized Areas and the Virginia Region 2000 Business & Economic Development Alliance from 2000-2013.
Mr. Dodson is a graduate of Virginia Tech and the University of Richmond School of Business. He has received numerous distinguished awards, including the 2019 Lynchburg Regional Alliance Business Hall of Fame, the 2018 Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities Humanitarian Award, Lynchburg Chapter, and the 2010 Lynchburg Chapter of the NAACP Citizen Achievement Award. Mr. Dodson is a lifetime member of Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church, Lynchburg.
