The Foundation is happy to be able to provide a cash award on behalf of the citizens of the City of Lynchburg to the Emergency Communications Officer of the Quarter - Forth Quarter 2024 - Temerrian Williams
On November 8, 2024, Emergency Communications Officer Temerrian Williams was working the primary police dispatch channel when the center started to receive multiple calls for an aggravated assault. Temerrian quickly and calmly coordinated responses when reports of gunfire at a local establishment began to surface. She relayed critical information to ensure victims and officers remained safe while maintaining her focus under pressure. Her ability to prioritize the well-being of both the public and her fellow first responders exemplifies her dedication to her work. On December 14, 2024, Temerrian received a call from a woman who originally stated she wanted to order a pizza. Upon listening closer, a male was being disorderly in the background. Temmerian used her training and experience to determine that this was a domestic situation in progress. She proceeded to ask the caller yes or no questions to ascertain what exactly was going on. Temmerian was able to obtain both basic information and officer safety information from the caller. She then advised the caller not to hang up but to instead leave the line open so she could monitor the situation while officers were responding. Temerrian's quick thinking and recognition of the situation helped protect the caller and provided her with the assistance that she needed. Temerrian’s actions reflect the embodiment of who our emergency communications officers are. She was able to handle this stressful and unclear situation, while processing multiple pieces of information to ensure both the caller and first responders were safe.
Thank you for your dedication and amazing service, Temerrian.
